Seniors' Events 2010 and Organisation
Having organised events for one year now can I make a plea to you all for help through next year?
In many ways organising Seniors Events is more difficult than the matches we play, where the numbers are set and invariably reserves can be brought in.
Seniors internal events depend intially on those putting their names down doing so because they definitely want to play. Early drop outs can be often accomodated by bringing in someone who has not put his name down but....
when the final selected list goes up it gets more difficult for me.
First I have to assume all those from the initial list still want to play on the day -- this means that there are no reserves if there is a drop out. Then a few days before the event I have to confirm numbers for dining. This means that late drop-outs potentially cost the Section as we may not be able to alter the numbers dining and, in addition.... late drop outs let down the partner or group they have been selected to play with on the day if no reserve can be found.
So let's all enjoy the Events programmed for 2010 and you will all make my job easier if you bear the above points in mind and help me out.
